Cleveland Film Czar- pay no attention to the man behind the curtain

Be happy for your Friends. I was supposed to see my Consigliere tonight, but she got a good paying gig and has to be ready for it. I AM HAPPY FOR HER. She deserves it.

Which brings to my little talk about friendship. If something good happens for a person who you say is your friend, then you should be happy for them. She has been happy when good things have happened for me and I am happy that good things are happening for her.

Now that brings me to other people I know who for lack of a better word, I called "friend." If something good happened for them, I was happy, but if something good happened for me, it was, oh well, who cares. Sometimes I didn't even hear from them about it till weeks later. When they had no choice but to recognize it. If they only knew some of the other things I have in the works, they'd be less than happy, which is why I don't tell anyone about these things except my Consigleires and my real friends.

And so I find myself redefining my relationship (for lack of a better word) with some people. I think at times I just hung out with some people to get myself thinking about other things, but now I think just wasting time doing nothing would have been more productive.

Which is why I have decided to officially cut myself off from the film community. I really have did so a few years ago, but with the film czar title, it is just a bit more official. I will still do what I do (the studio and show must go on). I know there are some good people out there in the "film community," but as a group a lot of the ones who have been "in the game" for a while have such a mean bitter streak that you see why they are still where they are.

If you really want to do things here, or anywhere, then you have to be with those who are doing things. I AM PART OF THE BUSINESS COMMUNITY THOUGH AND VERY HAPPY TO BE A PART OF IT. No one has kicked me out for having the Film Czar title. The most I got was one reporter telling me, "it was pretty ballsy of me," but even she wished me the best. Everyone I know in my community (the business community)wish me the best. I'm not hurting the business community by working on a studio. In fact, a lot of them have been really helpful in the business proposal and the funding. Like I said, I'm not hurting them at all.

There are some definite progressive business people here and people who are very helpful to me (and I turn help them out whenever I can). Like I said, that is about being friends. And it is good business to help people out.

Still, being into movies, I am not in competition with any of them and so it's different than the others. Of course it is not all perfect. Some people in the business community I don't connect with, but that is just cause they are not interested in what I do. Still, they don't go out of their way to be nasty to me, and then say "I don't mean to offend you."

The good thing is that thanks to connections (business friends) I do have and such, I have got connected with other things which I would not have done otherwise. A girl I met in the "City" connected me to a "stellar" business guy and he has connected me with others and I am going to help him out with some "city planning" things. And people helping other people out is a good thing.

Alas, I am glad I do have my New Orleans/Southern roots and I have the strength to cut loose from those who would seek to bring me down. My grandma once said, "If people are after you, it means you got something they want."

Well, it is sad to cut people loose, but if you don't then you drown with them. And I really don't feel like drowning.
