Someone read my blog and suggested I read "The Prince" by Machiavelli, so I am doing it so. It is good advice. Today, I met with two actors and an FX person who is coming aboard to help out with the show. Things are falling into place. There was a lot of drama and for financial reasons and the betterment of the project, I ended up changing Angies. The new Angie is adorable and closer to the original vision of the story. George F. recommended her and I have come to trust George and I am glad he is aboard.
On to other things. I went off on someone recently. It was a bit overdue, but actually a waste of time because they told me later, I thought you were playing. People who don't know when people are serious, just need to go away. So for now, this person is just in the background and I won't worry about them.
In a sense, other things still come up from time to time, but I really try not to give them much thought. There is a lot to do right now, so blondes and such are the last thing on my mind.
I have some Interns aboard the show and they are very very very helpful. So, I have a lot of good people with faith in the show. And it does look good. I was talking to someone who had a bad film experience and they asked me what keeps me going when it gets bad. I said, when you have a lot of people involved in a project, you start to do it for them and not you anymore. You don't want to let them down, so that's what keeps you going.
Now, on cutting people loose. The other Angie walked away when I didn't meet her demands. Which I guess was how people are. If I don't get what I want, I'm leaving. Some want fame. Some want exposure. Some want money and more than you can afford. Still I broke a rule that I should have learned to remember. I had someone helping me out and they claimed they didn't want anything. So, I accepted the help. Now, I should know better. We all want something. Which is good. If you know a person is helping you out to make a name for themselves, then that is fine and if you help them do that, then they are happy, and you are happy. Agendas are fine if they are out in the open. Now, what is bad is when people have wants and they don't tell you. Then later on, they don't get what they want and are very unhappy with you. Of course, you never knew what they wanted cause they never said so.
Yeah, all in all, way too much time wasted there. I guess a lot of it is because I don't want to be firing people left and right, but some people just start to hurt the project. So, I can't afford that. Better to just give people less and less to do and let them walk away.
And on a brighter note, we finished all of Dark #1 and Dark #2 has a few more shots and then I have to write scenes for Dark #3 and might be able to jump into Dark #4. THEN I need to get stories from some other writers. We have a nice core of central actors. I could use another director cause my Prosecutor is in a lot more of the stories than I planned. Yet, he is interesting to play. I've come to grips with his dark side finally and as they say, the show goes on...
