A little more relaxed now. Still, I think my body is starting to feel the effects of stress. I have to just stay focused here. Which I do. I need a few "buffers." People to have placed between me and other people, so I can stay on track and not have to worry about he said/ she said stuff.

Actually I don't have to be friends witht he people I work with. I can be friendly, but being friends always involves opening up and being personal. And paradoxically although I do open up here, I also stay very guarded at times. If my life has taught me anything, it has taught me that.

So, at the party, I can make sure everyone else has fun. I have to make certain to praise the sponsors and thank the people involved in the production and talk to whatever press we have there (and the network might be there as well). Still, everyone else can have fun, but I can't cause that would mean I have to relax and I can't exactly do that. Not yet at least. I have a job to do.

It's a "Captain Kirk" thing. No, I have not lost it here. Well, Kirk was the captain and a Captain is always the captain. He can't open up to his crew. He can't love. he can't get off focus. if the captain is off focus, then the ship goes down in flames. And while some of the people here might enjoy seeing that, there really is no way I can let that happen. And we are moving ahead. I talked to two of the sponsors yesterday. I was happy that they came aboard. One thanks to JW. I am working on getting her some press. She deserves it and a lot more.

So, all in all, I can bitch here, to a point, but I am here and I the captain. Which is where I guess I need to be. Still I am going to have to take a break sometime soon. Very soon.

I wonder if in show biz anyone has any real friends. Just thinking on the subject due to some things going on. I find more and more reason to keep distance between me and the people who work with me and for me. While things are moving ahead, also people seem to be putting words in my mouth. I had to tell someone recently that if you don't hear it from me, then don't pay attention to it. Still, when I asked the "someone" about it, they just lied to me and said they never said a thing. I know, I am real cryptic here, but sometimes you need to be. It's just funny when people tell lies and you catch them in it, you have to watch your step with them.

Still being in charge, I have to take responsibility for everything. Even when other people fuck up, it is my fault because they are under my command. I really fucking hate being in charge. Still, things are moving along. I just need to keep some distance here.

I have a lot of planning to do before Thursday and there is that play I am doing. I like the role. Yet, it is a lot of work, but it is not my production. All I have to do is show up and do my job (as an actor).

After the Party this Thursday, I will take a break from everyone on the production and write some things and also define who is working in what role. Things have come too far to let people screw it up by putting words in other people's mouth.

INVITE TO THE WRAP PARTY
http://www.evite.com/alexmichaels@prelude2cinema.com/darkwrap1
By Julie Washington in the Cleveland Plain Dealer Friday May 13, 2005 Arts Section

Party in the dark
Meet the cast and crew of "Out of Darkness," a proposed television series being shot in the Cleveland area, at a Dark Wrap Party. The free event takes place at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Velvet Dog, 1280 West Sixth St., Cleveland.

If you arrive at 5 p.m., you can be an extra in an upcoming episode being shot at the Velvet Dog that night. In that scene, a famous actress who is a former Clevelander returns home to party, and she gets a little wild.

"She's off her medication," explained series creator, writer and director Alex Michaels. Clips from the first episode will be shown at the party.

The "Out of Darkness" gang is celebrating the completion of the first episode of the series, which blends crime with science fiction. A similar wrap party was held for the pilot episode last year, but the first show features several new actors, said Michaels, who lives in Cleveland.

He's lining up investors by agreeing to feature their businesses or products in future shows. Once he has four episodes in the can, Michaels plans to buy time on television stations to air them as a miniseries.

THANK YOU JULIE!

Have to keep focused on things. It would be easy to let a few personal things get in the way right now, but I have too many people I am obligated to, so I can't. Now all in all, things are going well... interesting. I was going to remove some "thing" from the production, but I think IT will be OK as long as IT can be mature. I have been accussed of playing favorites lately. And it hasn't been the case. It is just some people bring certain things to a production and others bring other things. And you have to weigh things in a financial sense. Cause it does take a leap of faith for people to put money into a TV series that is not yet on the air and this is still Cleveland, so something like this has never been tried before. Still, we managed to get a nice ton of press in the Plain Dealer. Julie Washington came through again with a nice little piece on the Wrap Party.

And all in all, I still have to do some planning for it. I do want to keep things kind of laid back, but I do want to make sure and highlight the sponsors and the cast.

On the personal side of things. Had to have an interesting conversation with someone. I don't know if things will lead in any new direction, but I don't think the door is completely closed. I do remember the end of "Romeo is Bleeding."

Jack is sad, but Jack is still hopeful. I don't know if I am, but part of me is.
