Sometimes things don't go as you planned, but they do go well. I got a chance to see a very pretty actress whom I hadn't seen in a while. We had a few rough spots in the shoot, but settled in and it came across good on camera. I was glad I could comfort her. Still, it kind of wore me out. Not the comforting part. I adore her and would do it again. Just shooting is getting to be longer than I expected and a bit tiring. Ideally I'd love to find someone to shoot and direct the next episode. That depends on the sponsors. The community of people here are selective on who they chose to help out and I don't belong to thier cliques.
Still, I get a lot done, and I get sponsors too, but it wears me out. I could use a little comforting myself.
I'll probably get a second wind around daybreak. At least I better cause I got an early morning shoot. It is a tiny one. The episode has a few scenes left and that is it.
I got enough to start editing together the promo. I wanted to wait till I shot with "my girl" tonight cause she is one of the key people in the show. Drew came and helped out which was great. M.R. had to take care of his sick kid. I told him, family comes first. He's a good guy and a good dad. So although I missed him helping out, I admire him for staying home and taking care of his sick kid. I can count on one hand the times my Dad took care of me when I was sick. And I can do the counting with using maybe half of my fingers. Or none of my fingers now that I think about it.
Still, "my girl" was great and my star got her Mountain Dew so she's happy.

Why do we say we ran into an old friend when we didn't? while time heals all wounds, I think it would be utter folly to consider someone a friend just becasue you haven't seen them in a long time. Still, I don't harbor any ill will toward the person. It's just, I really don't consider myself friends anymore. Yet, I was diplomatic and we talked. They told me their life and I listened. When it got time for me to talk, I could have gushed about things. I could have mentioned the Blonde. Which I'm not sure of. Or mentioned other personal things. Good or Bad. In response to, so what have you been up to, I just mumbled "Just stuff."
And they said, they had read about me. Well, I thought, there you go. I am in that business. even at this tiny level that I consider myself at. If you want to know what I am up, just google me or go to the internet movie database or else... It's just the nature of "show biz" that you should be able to find out what someone is doing.
The person told me that they hadn't been doing anything. I said, you should. You're talented. And I was being honest. Still, I really thought the conversation had went on five minutes too long. And the conversation was about 5 minutes and 30 seconds. Here is the perfect dialogue.
THEY: Alex ME: Hi, how are you? THEY: Good and you? ME: Good, well bye. THEY: Bye.
Now that is perfect. And you don't say, you ran into an old friend, you just say nothing. Cause it was nothing.

Jamie and Morgan WON. Maybe there are bright spots in Hollywood after all. Still, I was reading a few days ago where in the movie "Hitch," the producers chose a Latina for Will Smith's leading lady because of the race issue. I don't think colour when I cast. Especially in this story since I like to mix things up. Still America can be racist. And honestly the "powers that be" are so scared of changing things that they do nothing against it.
Which brings me to the casting of Raft's "significant other." In the pilot, she was a little blonde, but I haven't found anyone to fit the part right now, so I might introduce her in the second episode. For right now, Raft will be flirting with Charlie in the first episode. I can introduce her later in the Season. Besides this cuts Raft's scene down to about two in this episode. Since I play Raft and I'm directing the pilot, I don't want to be featured much here.
I got a Noon meeting on the show and at 1pm I have to see Detective Mike to plan out the rest of Episode One and start work on Number two. And of course, there is the business side of things. Still waiting to hear back from people.
I got the pics from M.R. with Charlie and Raft. They came out really well. I told him we should do a showing of all the pics.
